      The World Coalition Against the Death Penalty’s office in Paris, France, is currently calling for free lance journalist contributions.
      The objective is to award contracts to free lance journalists for the website of the World Coalition Against the Death Penalty for a total budget of € 15,000 over 30 months (early 2013 – mid 2015).

    • The World Coalition Against the Death Penalty is an alliance of more than 140 NGOs, bar associations, local authorities and unions. The aim of the World Coalition is to strengthen the international dimension of the fight against the death penalty. Its ultimate objective is to obtain the universal abolition of the death penalty. The World Coalition is striving to achieve this aim by lobbying international organisations and States; by organising international campaigns, including the World Day Against the Death Penalty ; and, by supporting national and regional abolitionist forces.

      The World Coalition has a website in seven languages (French/ English/ Arabic/ Spanish/ Russian/ Farsi/ Chinese) partly devoted to news of those taking action against the death penalty (www.worldcoalition.org). A “news” page presents the initiatives contributing to reducing application of the death penalty from across the world. The World Coalition has also developed web pages dedicated to the campaigns of its members and strategies for the use of social networking sites, particularly Facebook and Twitter, to raise awareness among a wider audience.

      The World Coalition is looking for free lance journalists to contribute the World Coalitions’ online publications, including:

      •    Articles in seven languages (French/ English/ Arabic/ Spanish/ Russian/ Farsi/ Chinese) devoted to those taking action against the death penalty
      •    Videos (1'30'' to 4') with headline and intro
      •    Audio files/Podcasts (1'30'' to 4') with headline and intro
      •    Promotion of World Coalition material on social networks such as Facebook and Twitter.

      The successful free lance journalists shall have the following minimum qualifications:
      1.    Accredited and duly licensed in their country, with minimum three years' experience (Journalist, Author, Independent status accepted) ;
      2.    Free lance journalists should be able to work in at least one of the seven languages of the World Coalition: French/ English/ Arabic/ Spanish/ Russian/ Farsi/ Chinese;
      3.    Free lance journalists interested in contributing should send a sample of their work and suggest at least one title of article that could be published on the World Coalition’s Website.

      Pricing shall include the following information:
      1.    The price of one story in one language, length 2000-3500 characters including spaces + headline, subheadlines, keywords; provide one illustration with caption and credit that can legally be published for free if required; input story into website if required.
      2.    The price of one story in two languages, with both versions of high enough standard to be published after light spelling and typographical editing
      3.    The price of one story with video in one language, length 1000-3500 characters including spaces + headline, subheadlines, keywords; provide one finished video (1'30'' to 4') in one language with headline and intro; input into dailymotion or youtube and into website if required.
